DOGS 

The most important helper of the goat farmers is the big herding dog, the "Bardino Majorero", which is not only an excellent herding dog, but also reliably guards house, farm and family. The Bardino is characterised by its double wolf claws and its special brindle coat colour, which shimmers green under certain light conditions.

Besides the Bardinos, there are also the greyhound "Podencos", which are used for rabbit hunting.  These animals probably come from the African continent, their similarity with the Egyptian pharaoh dogs is unmistakable.
